Hey Tobity, you suffer from Argumentum ad baculum, that's Latin for "attacking the arguer rather than the argument". So learn how to debate if you want to be taken seriously. Ya hee-ah?

Read the Book, Blackwater, by Jeremy Scahill.Order 17 written by neocon Paul Bremer gave Blackwater unlimited power free from prosecution. Usually our government officials are guarded by the US Marines. Why are we privatizing the protection of Gov officials.Secret Service better watch out for they maybe replaced by Blackwater. More scarey is the fact, Erik Prince is a right wing evangacrazy Catholic, so is Bremer. Do we want privatized mercenaries who are also religious zelots?

The US administration hand picked the current Iraq (so called) government not the Iraqi's. The same way they gave BW the no bid contracts. Iraq is their training ground for bigger projects.

It's irrelevant whether they wear US uniforms. Lots of armies/guerillas don't wear US uniforms. Khaki, OD, Camo, etc. Most importantly they carry arms openly, and identify themselves as fighters. The people in gitmo are in Alqaeda, which hides among civilians to conduct its terrorist ops. Its irrelevant that iraq's a foreign country, the US is obviously part of the US-Iraq war. Stop talking nonsense.
johnedwards1968 (October 21, 2007 at 3:28 pm)
They are not in US military uniforms, because they are not in the US military. The open arms thing is just silly. Do you think the people in Gitmo, were not carrying arms? They are mercenaries by the definition. Iraq is a foreign country, last time I checked. You haven't said a single honest thing.
GoogtheGreat (October 20, 2007 at 9:06 pm)
If they are not in the US armed services then they are private citizens, foreigners not from Iraq. Acording to Bush's own description that makes them insurgents too.
waltereg0 (October 18, 2007 at 8:11 am)
This is nonsense. An unlawful combatant is one who does not carry arms openly. Secondly Blackwater does wear a uniform, there is no mistaking them for an unarmed civilian. So clearly they aren't unlawful combatants. If they were mercenaries then they could be unlawful combatants, but they are not serving in a foreign conflict, so they aren't mercs.
