MAX & IAGO at Can Sarro - El cor de la ciutat, ep. 1573

SCENE 1 (Ivan, Markus, K & Max): Ivan wants to know if Beni's son happens to see his father or if he drops home once in a while and he asks Markus (the fake squatter) to keep a very close eye on Max. Markus tells him everyone likes Max & Iago very much. Ivan replies he's paying him so he will have to be really efficient. When Markus notices Max and K are coming, he pretends an argument with Ivan: Ivan accuses him of being a thief. Max and K stop the quarrel.SCENE 2 (Eli & Iago): I've translated the dialogue into English. ELI.- I can't be bothered tidying up the laundry...IAGO.- Neither can I. But I'd rather doing the tidying up than the ironing.ELI.- Don't worry, we don't have an iron here... (Seeing Iago is fixing something) Is it broken?IAGO.- Yep, yesterday, it fell down the floor during the party and it doesn't work anymore.ELI.- Ros [her brother] found that little lamp inside a bin. In fact, can't believe it has lasted so long...IAGO.- I'm trying to reconnect three wires.ELI.- Ros was a handyman too. When he lived here, he was fixing things all the time but now, whenever something gets broken, no one is able to fix it up again. You had this lamp in your room?IAGO.- Yeah, and it worked pretty well. The only one.ELI.- Do you enjoy here?IAGO.- A lot, Eli. You can't imagine how it was living at Beni's...ELI.- It must have been very hard for you and Max.IAGO.- I feel really sorry for him. I caused him too much trouble.ELI.- They say you can't choose who you fall in love with.IAGO.- I wanted to leave Max just once, not to cause him all that suffering. But finally I couldn't. When you actually love someone, you can't pretend you feel nothing for him. Max should have fallen in love with someone different from me. I've been in jail and I am awaiting the trial. I'm not the most brilliant person he could have met. But Max and I are completely different. And sometimes, opposites are really attracted to each other.ELI.- Know what? The other day, when the light went out... (She stops as Max and K approach)IAGO.- Why did you take so long?K.- Markus wanted to have some beers...MAX.- Don't know what happens to him but recently we can't get rid of him...IAGO.- He maybe fancies you...MAX.- You bet...K.- No, he just wanted to get even after the big row he had with Ivan this morning...ELI.- What happened?K.- Ivan is a jerk. Look, Markus was waiting at the ATM machine for Ivan to withdraw money and, suddenly, without any explanation, he got mad and told Markus his 20 euros were missing.MAX.- Yeah, you should have seen him. He got hysterical; he was about to hit Markus.IAGO.- The best you can do is not to pay him the slightest bit of attention. Who knows what he's able to do, right, Eli?
