Yes - but it takes a special kind of individual to remain lucid in situations like these.

The plane was fine wasn't it? Even if both engines failed chances are the pilots would at least be able to level out before hitting the ground. Which they also train for. Now, if there are buildings infront of them then they may all die, but plenty of planes have been crash landed with no causulties without any thrust. Not as dramatic as it seems as someone mentioned, simply because they still have enough thrust to fly. If they REALLY wanted, they could fly to their destination and be late.

Firstly: This is a 757-200Secondly: The situation is not as dramatic as it may appear. Modern aircraft MUST be able to endure at least one engine failure during take-off. They have to, by law. No aviation authority in the world would give an accreditation to an aircraft type, which would crash in situations like this one.Finaly: The pilots are professionals, but no heroes. Every pilot has trained this situation in the simulator again and again.
