Actually, Pearl Jam's first name was "Mookie Blaylock" after the basketball player. They couldn't keep the name (obviously) so they changed it to Pearl Jam and then named their first album Ten after Mookie's jersey number. Green River was Jeff and Stone's 80's band they had prior to forming Mother Love Bone.
