HahahahahahaNo I don't agree with you one bit, let alone kindly. The reason I responded to your message is that you made a total moron out of yourself by instead of answering someone's legitimate question -- due to an obvious inability to say anything of value about Bacon's work -- digressed to calling them an idiot. If you fail to understand me by this point you might possibly be lacking your mental bearings. On that note, no, you don't have to reply to this.

No i am not a teenager btw. I don't quite understand why you felt the urge 2 reply to wot i sed months ago anyway if you appreciate his work. That's the point i was making a long time ago, to appreciate the way he paints I don't really think you are making any point are you? Just wanna pointlessly argue with sum1 who u kinder agree with anyway hmmm. Please don't reply im tired of this shit you talk, and never really make resolved response.

On another note, had you actually read what I had to say, you would notice that I did not at any point suggest that Bacon had no talent. As a matter of fact I do very much appreciate the sporadic energy in his work,to name just one thing. What I did say, however, was that you cannot possibly prove his 'talent' one way or the other --since that is, again, a matter of utter subjectivity.I'm not sure how old you are; I hope I'm not wasting my time explaining things to some embittered 14 year old.

Here we go again with the absolutisms. You cannot possibly dictate to someone else what to 'admire and appreciate'. The point you continuously fail to understand here is that visual art is a subjective experience, just like any other subjective experience, be it visual or otherwise. Just because you might like chocolate chip cookies doesn't mean everyone else in the world has to like it - let alone admire and appreciate.
ollymcguirk (May 12, 2008 at 10:36 pm)
I wonder if you have any talent's other than failing to attempt to sound articulate on utube. How can YOU say his use of paint is NOT that of talent, even if you do not understand his work, you cannot fail to admire and appreciate it. The funny thing is I am sure people like you have not a 10th amount of talent of artist's like Bacon, he is written into art history! 'Francis Bacon did in fact ever produce anything of "talent"... You haven't got a clue have you 'nochnoipetux' you poor dulled.

Actually, one of the first signs of juvenile stupidity is when a person digresses to call someone else names, especially since it stems from an obvious - in ollymcguirk's case - incapacity to articulate oneself. As to not being able to "dispute that the late Francis Bacon was very talented" that is in fact very much a matter of opinion. In my opinion, you cannot possibly "prove" that Francis Bacon did in fact ever produce anything of "talent".Cheers!

For further understanding of Francis genius, read the brilliant work of Gilles Deleuze: Francis Bacon, logic of sensation.

nope, it's perfectly legit. not idiotic at all. and to call it/me juvenile is quite hypocritical, considering your "Idiot." remark. to say you cannot dispute his talent only further reveals your desire for accord, intolerance of dissension. i did not "knock" his technique but i would hardly call it extraordinary. you should really try to escape your mindset of absolutes ("you cannot.....you just can't") as it leads nowhere, sorry to say.
ollymcguirk (April 8, 2008 at 9:49 am)
You cannot dispute that the late Francis Bacon was very talented, even if you don't like his work, if you can't understand it you still have to appreciate and accept that a lot of people do. If you don't like the images he paint and re-creates, fine but cannot knock his extraordinary technique when using paint, you just can't. But rather juvenile, spare of the moment comment's like 'im confused as to why this guy is considered a genius', are slightly idiotic.
