An extremely deep dive into the mandelbrot zoom. If the final frame were the size of your screen, the full set would be larger than the known universe.

Good job,Which computer did you use? How long did it take? About 20 years ago, I remember making an analogue computer to calculate the Mandelbrot set because it was so slow on a digital computer. I used op amps and analogue multipliers to make it display at about 20 fps and it waved around a bit like fire due to noise.Good memories,Thanks for the video.Pete

Why dont you calculate it? Shouldnt be very hard. Anyway, the area that one screen covers is reduced wuicker than you think. Imagine the firs screen is the whole universe, then in maybe half a second you have only half the universe. And it goes on like that for three and a half minutes. Only faster that the example i used.

Picture as your zooming in on it and as soon as the video stops. Turn around and look behind you to just try and concieve how far away your would be from when you started.

How to hand draw fractals was just discovered. If you go to fantastic fractals you can see a demonstration when you click on "How to make a fractal". Fractals arise from limits.

The whole fascinating thing about it is that, no matter how deep you go, it all ends up in an exact replica of the image to start out with. This truly explains "self-similarity".
