She wrote it for her husband, and Priest were around since the late sixties.

who is this addressed to? No one here trashed Halford--I do prefer Priest's version myself too, but I'm a metal fan; folk music not so much. Make sure to reply when you post a comment so you can make sure to get your point through to the right person. Priest live--in 8 more days!

I mispoke myself to illustrate the brilliance of this song and who wrote it. Priest, unlike many metal bands could have, portrayed it brilliantly. Rather than stringing together turkey gobling guitars, and meaninglessly dexterous vocals. They managed to translate the song with a perfect synthesis of the heart of hard rock and metal without sacrificing the delicacy and spirit of the song. Rob is perhaps the best metal singer, not because of range, but because he makes us want to listen.

are you insane? this is about the only joan song ever regarded as good!--most of her songs are just covers of other songs!!!1 i have been a musician for 28 years- and i LOVE this song-- but to put Halford down and deismiss his work is really a joke!.If you know anything about the band judas Priest-maybe you just dont like metal. But your statement was uninformed and foolish, so please be more open to talent than you seem not to be.Listen to some priest-Halford has a 5 octave range, and melodic!!
