Russian spetsnaz does not use Ak-101 (because NATO 5.56 caliber). Ak-101 produced for export.

The reason why this weapon and the AK 103 was created, was because they wanted weapons that could use the NATO 5.56 and the NATO 7.62 rounds...

The weapon was made by Russia. They would not want eastern bloc countries becoming NATO comliant. The weapon was made to increase market at many peoples request.
