As an independant voter, I have many reservations about the democratic party hinging on their tendancy to be sellouts tantamount to republicans -to different buyers- and haven't really seen Sen Obama show the kind of character that embodies the kind of change that is his mantra. This year's race has been a real disappointment in that respect. I once resepcted McCain because he was a moderate, but he's wearing Bush's old clothes now. WTF???

I tend to agree with what West says frequently. Here he makes a point that I find applies to the greater majority of candidates this year: what are they willing to sacrifice for, risk, and take a stand about NO MATTER the cost? Hilary lost my vote mainly because she backed off on the war. Barack may lose mine, because he hasn't showed willingness to take hits on anything that might not be popular, a principle he is unwilling to be swayed about. His defense of Wright may be an exception.

Oh, Cornell West rox. That was hilarious and so true. I want to look up Barak Obama on 60 min and see if he did say anything about it. hmmmm . . .

On second thought, he does seem to have one demand, though he has trouble defining it: perfection.

Cornell West's convoluted jive-speak helps hide the fact that most of what he says, when it isn't utter nonsense, is neither clever, new or interesting. Notice that Cornell West never makes specific demands. This is a good strategy for him. If he were to make his demands specific and the demands were met, he would have to shut up. He might even have to find a job.

It's going to take a black man to fix this shitty country

There are a lot black people who realize that he will be the president of the entire country. There are some who are just happy to see someone get this far. Most are weary of our current economy and the vast changes that have occurred to the way this country operates in the past 7 years.

I don't think West hates change.West brings up a good point about where the money is coming from that is behind Obama. I believe special interest groups are behind him and that they are using him as their puppet to push their own agendas. I could care less where he started his campaign. Black Americans need to realize that if elected he will be the President of the U.S. not the President of blacks only. I do agree with you about what you said about the so-called black leaders of today.
