have the mets ever drafted anyone that actually panned out?

I grew up in Valpo; Tim Bishop was phenomenal, and yes, it was the Mets who picked him very early in the June amateur draft. He had hit .325 his 1st year in the minors and was already moved up a level to Columbia, SC, where he was in the accident. He was 20, and just 2 years out of high school.

Who is doing play by play in this game? I actually kind of like the softer tone.

Yes. I'm a Valpo alum. My senior year was the year this happened. I drove down Route 30from my apartment Merrillville to go to class. Worked in the bookstore right by the ARC. Not 20 minutes after the win, the demand for Valpo gear was absolutely insane. I too remember this like it was yesterday.
