George Monbiot is such a cheesy, cliched idiot.

ENTER THE AMATEUR PROFESSIONAL:The mountain bike was invented by bike enthusiasts seeking utility. It was not invented by mountain-biking companies. They had too much invested in their product line. The future will only be saved by amateurs who go out and do it for the love of doing it.The problem is that it's not in the financial interest for any companies to stop doing what they're doing.

yeah, but proliferation of nuclear weapons increases the threat of even accidental nuclear war.

Besides, there is the issue of where to put radioactive waste that will last for centuries. So we transfer the problem to the future generations...how sustainable is that?

...To say there will be no more Chernobyl's is not true. Tokyo showed how that was incorrect. Nuclear power might be feasible hypothetically in a non-capitalist state where the end-goals are not profit and hence better organisation is used but ultimately it is an excuse not to pursue renewable energies and it will always be dangerous due to its inherent instability. Fusion - Yes, Fission - No.

I also really enjoyed these video's. However I do not agree on his particular disagreement about nuclear power. Although he states he disagrees with nuclear power on the grounds of weaponry being attained from it he agrees with nuclear power for electrical creation...

Very good stuff from Monbiot there. However, I find that his argument against nuclear is just foolish, considering how little such weapons have been used, historically.

brilliant

I agree. Monbiot brings it very clearly: on c.c. denial, on greenwash, and on the viability of conservation efferts and the transformation to green society with 90% cuts in GHG emissions. Every state leader in the world should be singing his praises and implementing his ideas.
