He was dropped by his label because they didn't support his album. Arista is the worst label under Sony/BMG half of their roster was dropped this year. Maybe if he would have had a single sent to top 40 radio instead of letting it die on Adult contemporary charts he might have been able to do something worth a damn in mainstream music. Mainstream is dying anyways. Indie bands and labels are stronger than they ever were because people are finally getting wise to the mindless bullshit on the radio

Actually Simon WAS proven wrong on some things, but low and behold... Taylor Hicks was not a success in the commercial singing business. Yes he won, yes he's a good performer and singer... but he was dropped by his label and hasn't really done anything worth a damn in the mainstream music industry. So in ways, Simon wasn't wrong.

Simon doesn't know music he knows marketability. He said so himself. He's not a music critic or producer he knows what's going to sell and that's all he does. He says sly little comments during the show and picks people from the beginning that he's going to favor. That's it.

Paula and Randy have more experience with all kinds of music compared to Simon. Paula and Randy's minds are way more vast. Anyone could go on that show and point out a bad singer compared to a good singer. Simon on the other hand points out good singers until one comes up that is completely out of his element (box).

Just because of Lewis and the help (keyword) helped Carey etc etc, that doesn't mean anything at all. He might be a good judge when it only comes to a certain style of music. What I am saying though is that his mind isn't vast enough to be judging on a show with 100's of different style GOOD singers. Simons head is like a box, a small box that is, he doesn't experience the greatness of other styles of music. he just stays inside that little box.
