Heh... well. I question the validity of even that statistic, and would like to see your sources. But that aside......your comparison made me grin. I suppose the problem with the comparison is that winning the lottery doesn't involve a year's courtship, a costly wedding, involvement with a whole new set of relatives, the months or years it takes to realize you can't continue the marriage, and the loss of half your wealth when you part. Although I hear it costs half your winnings in taxes.

I was being liberal with the stats. However, the latest rate is about 70% of marriages being unhappy/divorced. With a 30% chance of winning the lottery, I would play every day!!

If you truly believe we have a much better chance of hitting the Lotto than being in a happy marriage, either you completely fail to comprehend the statistics involved, or you are so unbelievably pessimistic about people that I pity you.

I don't know why so many people get married and get divorced right away. Why bother? I'm going on 17 years next month. Everyone disagrees once in awhile. Divorce is just too easy.

Yea and 99.9% of the remaining marriages are between two miserable people. We have a much better chance of hitting the Lotto than being in a happy marriage!
