i have NO IDEA how the cell phone works, but i used to do the same thing with my tv antenna when i was a kid. its still a signal so....bigger antenna , better reception, simple as that.

Man I've worked for the Wireless ISP that has been using 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz devices (802.11b/g/g+ and 802.11a standards) - this video is stupid. He connects an UTP cable to computer and other end isn't connected to anything - so his LAN connection should be unplugged, and he is talking about wireless... lolIf you wan't a better reception use high quality cables - CFD200, CFD400...Also use a better antena - search google for "yu1aw" - he's got a bunch of homemade stuff.Hope that helps! ;)

i understand how is works but to be sure. the other end of the Ethernet wire goes into nothing? ieyou have your computer plugged into the ethernet then the coil of the wire of the ethernet wrapped around my phone and then on the other end nothing? also do i need to do anything to my phone? like conect to the internet?please reply! sombody and thanks if u dojosh

Oh it definitively works on XPBut you might first want to try "Easy WiFi Radar"Its a piece of software which is very good for finding free networks to connect toBefore you do any hardware things and break a phone :P
