Well, no one is a perfect person. Or perfect Christian. But I do believe that. I believe it with all my heart. I am a true Christian, not just a Bible thumper. Well, what exactly is a Bible thumper in your definition?

How are you so sure they are Christians? Just because a person CALLS their selves a Christian doesn't mean they ARE Christians. You have to believe that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. And, He loves you! That's what makes you a Christian. Not being a 'Bible thumper.'Yes, I have met some very nice Atheists. That doesn't mean they are RIGHT in their way of thinking.

Behold the words of an ex-atheist for over 20 years..."What was the point of prolonging any one life? What difference did it make if a girl didn't live to marry or her mother live to see it? Of what value were temporary emotional experiences? They were simply the biochemistry of the brain reacting to sensory input and, upon that individual's death, any remaining memory of that experience would be thrown away along with the person who had experienced it.

You reference European history and mention the Crusades, witch-burnings (which actually took place in the U.S.) Witch burnings occured in Europe during the 14th - 15th centuries.If the witch burnings occured later in the U.S.(I don't think so) the tradition was brought over by Europeans. There were the Salem witch trials but I don't recall reading the Puritans there were responsible for thinking up the burning at the stake thing.
