It already exists. Plus Frisian was technically extinct in the 19th century.

I am from Fryslân (=West Friesland), and i agree by some commenters that it is a beautiful language. Too bad that the language is overrun by Dutch. Some Frisians learn their childeren Dutch because they think that is better for them. I think those people are so stupid and I hope the government will make a law that makes everyone who live in Friesland to learn Frisian.

I love the sound of Frisian, it's too bad that it is dying in Germany. Most of the young people don't learn it anymore and most Germans don't even know that Frisian is a language.

I have studied German, a little bit of Old English/Anglo-Saxon, and quite a bit of Norwegian and Swedish, and with those skills beforehand I can *ALMOST* make out everything on that page.Germanic languages are so awesome and sound so noble, I can't get enough of them!

Afrikaans and Dutch are mutually intelligible. Afrikaans and Frisian are not. Frisian is part of the Anglo-Frisian language family that includes English, Scots, and Frisian. Old English and Old Frisian were mutually intelligible, and had the normans not invaded England and left the french influence, then perhaps people who speak english and frisian could understand eachother.

Dutch, Afrikaans and flemish are from the same groop. Frisian is a groop itself.

I wonder if Afrikaans came more from Frisian then it did Dutch, as many of the Frisian farmers who spoke poor Dutch were the ones brough to colonize South Africa by the VOC (East India Company). Dutch was an official language in South Africa until the 1960's and was the language of the upper class, whereas Afrikaans was the language of the boeren(farmers). I just have trouble believing the language evolved so much from Dutch when it sounds more like Vlaams (Flemish) or Frisian. What do you think
