Down Yonder - great song. I also know they did lip sync back then. My observation of JoAnn: Notice in videos, they had 2 pianos. The one in this video is "rounded" at the ends of the keyboards. Video's using that piano are dubbed in with pre-recorded music.When they use the piano with the more 'square' ends on the piano, the tone is a little more honkytonk & was live performances. JoAnn has made the comment that a rod was dropped behind the keys on some songs & pre-recorded music dubbed in.

thank you for proving my point. and might i add, ive seen joann perform live only once in my life, and i know she was playing. remember this was done in the 50's 60's and back then things aren't the same as they are now.

If you watch the Lawrence Welk shows often enough after a while you will notice that they "lip sync" a lot of the songs they have on their records. I guess they do this so they don't sound different on the show from what people have paid for on the records. It's got to be real hard to "sync" to a record you've done who-knows how long ago.

but you're right, I have only played the piano for 20 years, so I don't know MUCH about it at all..p.s joann castle IS MY fav pianist..eventhough THIS SONG she may not be playing, Im not saying she can't play.. I think shes amazing.. just not so much here.

notice @ 3:03 she is playing down the scale, then from 3:04-3:08 you can hear she is playing down the scale again, but her fingers are staying in the same place

yahhhh im not having problems w/ sync issues... notice when she hits the keys the hammer isnt hitting the strings.. and keys on the piano sticking down, thus, nothing for the hammer to hit.. during the 2nd song fyi.

She certainly is playing. Youtube has synch -> upload issues if that is what you having a hard time w/.
