Yes,but Iraq would've been very rich if they had control over the oil in Kuwait. And Iraqis are pretty hard working,they managed to repair the damages of the two wars even under sanctions.Saddam had many great projects for Iraq,but they where never done because the whole world was against Iraq. Just imagine how Iraq would be if America had just "let them be".

ill tell you something though, we in the west have no right to criticize Saddam or Iran. We sold and paid for much of the gass given to the Iraqis to kill civilian Iranians, (now you see why Iran is pissed off now). We provided the gas to kill the kurds. Westerners cant take the moral highground when looking at the east, we are responsible for it, we only choose to morally challenge Saddam when he becomes despensible.

Additionally The war in Iran was a terribly costly and pointless endeavor (6 million died for no reason), basically caused by Saddam and western backers. I dunno though, I wouldnt say the countries any better without him, and its probably gonan get worse.

Gah Im divided over Saddam, his policies actually brought a lot of beneficial changes to Iraq (schooling medicare etc), in Iraq I think democracy could only happen in its own time, Saddam kept the lid on a civil war. Yet theres no doubt he was a sick fuck, my parents told me a story of a kid in Iraq who said something bad about Saddam in Iraq, the next day he went to school and his friends were hanging off the school gates (by their necks ofc) and he had to flee the country.

"Under the false impression?" Let me tell you what happened. Bush wanted to buy a couple days so he sparked a revolution in Iraq, a revolution, and then rejected all responsibility and not only did nothing to prevent Saddam from massacring the people, he explicitely denied them any help, whatsoever, while they were gassed to their deaths under America's watchful eyes, all to buy a couple days. That's ABOMINABLE.
