yeah, i get what you're saying. different people view things differently. it doesn't make you a bad person if you think the song is beautiful and hopeful; gives you hope for a better life. everything doesn't have to be pc..no one knows someone else's struggle.i dunno-you tube is full of these morons who are self-proclaimed experts. experts on you, and the world...w/e can't argue with a closed-mind.

unless you know someone-don't fucking judge them on why they feel a certain way. you know what they say about assuming.

ALL of her music is extremely political, issues varying on race, poverty, etc...i get that. I *NEVER* said it wasn't. everyone listening understands that. but what i said, while listening to it- how we all *FEEL* is different. since you don't know my life or anyone's on here, who are you to point fingers?
hmmwhatdude (July 25, 2008 at 8:58 pm)
what i don't get is how ppl could think it WASN'T about poverty. i think everyone listening to it, knows that. that message is clear. i was just saying, the ppl who found inspiration, probably found it b/c they knew they CAN make a better life, that's all.
hmmwhatdude (July 25, 2008 at 8:55 pm)
no. i never said it felt "triumphant." but it definitely gives ppl hope for a better life. "maybe together we can get somewhere..any place is better. starting from zero, got nothing to lose.." i get it's about poverty. THAT is very clear. i NEVER said it wasn't. but this ISis the song i listen to, when i need comfort or when i'm feeling hopeless. idc what you think about that.

- BasilTowWOW, praise the LORD! 1 person of the tens of millions that are going what she's singing about HAS MADE IT BIG! A revalation. I guess now that we've made ourselves feel bad about listening to this song and dwelt on it that we're better people and the issue of the cycle of poverty is sorted, huh?Any morons that think this song is one of hope has simply spun a message from the singer, that they don't want to hear, into something more pleasant.

- hmmwhatdude Okay, so the music feels triumphant to you. That's fine. Your interpretation of the song is incorrect though. Spin what she's singing so that it can be interpreted as a song of hope and power, if you can. In my opinion, it CAN'T. It is a song about poverty. The singer is quite clear about this.
