The silky smooth vabrato lain on the gentle key of guitar tranquility emotes my loins to expel a sultry dragons breath. Oh and some name dropping here, too. Go Warriors!!!

I thought the chorus was great. With the backing vocals, the "crazy" line sounded swell. On the other hand, his singing during the verses were grasping. Thats Lips though I guess.

a good cover shouldn't sound exactly the same... but they should have learned the words.

Ouch, bad key for Wayne. The silky smooth guitar stylings of Steven Drozd always feed my psychedelic guitar lust though. Despite Wayne's grasping for the "crazy" high note (haha, pun), this is a very enjoyable version of this song.

the orginal was awesome, but too overplayed, i remember when it came out. but the flaming lips can make anything sound awesome

I actually prefer covers that use the same melody in an entirely new way. I feel like that's the only point in doing a cover instead of just playing a CD of the original.

Well what, you want covers, especially the Flaming Lips for Christ's sake, to be EXACTLY the same as the original? There is nothing wrong with that, it just makes for an extremely boring existence imho

im glad they changed it up that stupid song was way too overplayed and it sounds better with the flaming lips twist on it in my opinion

Wayne Coyne has been known to change the words to many songs when he covers them (see the Lips' cover of "Seven Nation Army.") I'm pretty sure the themadnice is right, the guys from Gnarls Barkley are probably honored and interested in the Lips interpretation, and not upset at all.

I'm not going to be a prock about it, but I really don't like this cover. It barely even sounds close to the original. Had it not said it was a cover at the top, I would have never known it was supposed to be the same song. Sorry, I usually like the Flaming Lips, but not now. |
