Re: the stuff about Steve Earl and Townes, did you ever hear Bob`s response to the story (that Steve Earl said that Townes was a better songwriter than Bob and he`d stand on Dylan`s coffee table and tell him so!). Bob, mock-threateningly,.."..I`d like to see him try...(pause for efect).. I ain`t got no coffee table...! All heroes of music, fabulous performances. Lucky to be alive while these guys sang..!!

henrygem: do u mean the comment Bobby made about LaFarge dating his ex-girlfriend?

I always crack up when Bobby sings, "He wore his gun outside his pants." Can't stop myself. I don't laugh when anyone else sings it.May just be a Freudian thing: I always think, "Dylan, he wears HIS gun inside HIS pants."All the federales say ... couldda had him any day ...

As a birthday gift for my dad in '93, I flew him (and me) to this tribute concert. Dad was NOT a Dylan fan, but LOVED Willie. 'Pancho & Lefty' was his favorite Willie song. After he watched Bobby & Willie's duet, he leaned over and whispered to me in his Oklahoma drawl, "I've been wrong about 'that Dylan.' He seems like a pretty good ole boy." He flew back to Indy, me onto NYC. A week later I got an unexpected call: Dad, just 67, had passed away in his sleep. We played 'Pancho' at his wake.
