From their More Of The Night LP, "Innocent" was produced by Robert Brookins (who scored a Top 20 R&B hit duet with Stephanie Mills in 1988 with their rendition of "Where Is The Love"). New Jack Swing took the music world by storm in the late 80s and many artists took advantage of the new "hip" sound, with its catchy rhythms and infectious beats. The Whispers were no exception, and "Innocent" is proof of how perfectly matched their vocal stylings were with the New Jack Swing sound. "Innocent" peaked at #3 on the R&B Charts (and #55 on the Pop Charts) in late Summer of 1990, pushing their LP to gold status and further cementing the group's hold and impact on Urban music. Enjoy.

You know, I sure don't but I'm so behind on my video comments, lol, somebody probably already put it up. If not, I'll gladly find it.

The reason that the Whispers, Lakeside,Shalamar and Dynasty have a similar sound is due to the fact that they were all on the SOLAR label and the funky production talents of Leon F Sylvers III. The list also includes Midnight Star with production handled by the Calloway Brothers, Klymaxx and Carrie Lucas. Truly funky music.

Excellent point, SOLAR was probably similar to Motown (The Funk Brothers) in which they probably used the same musicians to play on the tracks for everyone on the label.

This song is one of the greatest songs The Whispers ever made. Stationed in Uijongbu, Korea, Soldiers cloed clubs down on this song in 1990 while we were stationed at Camp Red Cloud. This alblum was the 1st CD I ever Purposed when they started (LOL). Still got it to this day. This group is versatile and talented and changed with the times. They just dropped a new 14 Song release in 2007 called "For Your Eyes Only".

MarcusRob, EXCELLENT choice. Thanx a million. I'll bet you don't have "All The Way" by the Whispers, do you? If so, it'll be even more greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Robbert Brookins the most under rated producer and as a artist as well

I saw The Whispers in concert with After 7 at the Fox Theater in Detroit back in late 1990. Great concert! I remember Scotty saying "You're gonna hear some *Sangin" tonight! Notice , I didn't say *Singing*?" Too cool!

who was playing the music?? because Lakeside, Shalamar, Dynasty and some times Midnight Star had the same sound. did the same person play the same music for most of the solar bands??
