This song sends shivers down my spine. Longing to be with the people and places you know and love is a painful and desperate feeling. S & G capture the longing beautifully.

Aye. A fine Time Machine, puffdaddy104. Experience enough of it and one sees Time for what it is: a masterful illusion that we have all agreed to pretend is real. For myself, the music of Simon and Garfunkel was, is, and will always be just yesterday...Thank you, Dormouse.

The towns look all the same to me ... the Applebee's and the Burger Kings. My, things have changed! Thanks for the great post.

In Da Nang Vietnam my friend jiom Bennett & I would walk to the USO when we had a little time off. If we were lucky they would make a soupy version of ice cream. Homeward Bound was on the Juke Box there. We would play it over & over...Thinking of friends and family back home. Here is to ya James Warren Bennett!!!Thom Petersen

The Wilson Brothers/cousin's blend of the beach boys is one of the classic blends ever in popular music. Peter and Gordon?

Yes, it's very rare for voices to blend that well. To have the same timbre and same diction. Just Simon is the baritone and Garfunkel the tenor. But if they sing unisono they sound like one double-tracked voice. Just a few examples spring to mind: the Everly Brothers, Lennon & McCartney, who else?
