Half the reason this movie was so fucking good is because every single significant role had a good actor in it. "Who the fuck are you?" "I'm the guy who does his job, you must be the other guy."

I concede that but it is confusing when he talks about the Mafia in the film as though he is separate from it. In any case, I'll return to my original point, you don't just kill a member of the Italian Mafia and then expect them to accept it.
