Gergiev is the man. I've been to his "ein deutches requiem" a few weeks back, in Rotterdam. He is truly one of the great conductors of all time.

Its a great version, no doubt about that.But I think its alitle bit to slow, I miss some passion its a litle bit to calm for mine taste,listen to oistrakh version, ore mintz one

Repin is such a delight to watch and listen to. I've heard him playing Souvinior de Florence first violin live. He just blew everyone's socks off. His nearly flawless technique and imagination prove to make him one of the best violinists out there today!

Vadim has the best tone on youtube. A marvelous bow arm--straight bow, strong at the point. Vadim lit up a room playing on my violin once. The tone was jaw-dropping. Afterwards, I tried to extract the same tone to the point of hurting myself, but I couldn't achieve what he had done so effortlessly. |
