Thanks for telling us you teach voice at USC, but please tell us something like who did you teach that is popular and talented as My Tam. Don't spam nonesense, say something constructive that you think would help My Tam. I think your post lack sense and logic. If you think you were right, then define to us what makes a good singer. If it involves being globally recognized, multiple successful CDs, and singing tunes that everyone knows, then I would say that is where My Tam is right now.

I think you're getting political on this forum. You can teach voice at harvard for all i care. but her music touches the soul. You're just mad because she comes from communist (socialist party) in Vietnam. True Talent will get recognize. Stop worrying over your stupid flag and stop making it political.

My tam sings well but does not have the real vocal quality of a singer. Singing in tune and with the right rhythm do NOT make her a good singer. Her singing really lacks the colors and nuances...I teach voice at the University of Southern California, School of music for many years so I know what is particularly required to be a good quality vocalist...

I said it before and I'm going to say it again.My Tam IS the best Vietnamese singer ever. She doesn't lipsink and she has too much soul and passion in her song. She's simply the best, hands down.
