In fact Vincent is a failure in experiments just like Cloud is, they were made for Shinra Inc but were a failure, Sephiroth was the succeeded experiment of Proffesor Hojo but he had his own will since his mother was killed(Jenova) Jenova also is the mother of Cloud and Vincent(Hojo was her husband if that's right)
