My family knew the Basie's Catherine and Bill (Count) Basie. They were really great people. He was an old man when I met him but very nice. I grew up in Jamaica, Queens, New York and listened to Basie (and others) while my parents and relatives danced the Lindy in the living Room. Salute Bill (Count) Basie! Another great artist that we associated with was the Fats Waller family and the Duke Ellington family.
