it would be interesting to study the social networks of the modern world in relation to early human society (ie. pastoralist, agriculturalist, and hunter gathering) and primatological history and evolution. ignorance is not directly voluntary by the people, but it is the foundation for manipulation by information control and sci-ops. survival is now possible apart from an all powerful divinely commissioned authority.

the post modern world is one of enlightenment on several levels with most people thinking they are enlightened at least according to what they are aware of which is not that much compared to what is out there.

on a large scale religion is really a control mechanism implemented by the elite without a trail that can be very easily followed by the masses because they have too much else to focus on for one reason or another. In smaller scale human society religion would have been more spiritual and focused on the good of the tribe with those inclined to narcissism caused factions to complain, but not on a level that would disrupt and possibly misguide so many people.

Pope John Paul 1st was murdered because he was going to blow the whistle on the behaviour of the Vatican Bank who have laundered money for a very long time and supported wars including Hitler's crap. The Vatican is a den of snakes. That being said, it does not mean that any other religion should be embraced either. Christianity was taken from ancient Egypt. But all religions are divisive.
