What pyrexfish said. Mr. Fry, while a genius, is completely incorrect. Alan's use of none has been used in the English language since the 10th century!

What's hilarious is that Stephen Fry is up on his high horse, thinking he's being clever, when "none" as a singular noun is a fallacy! It's been used for literally hundreds of years as plural and a singular, depending on context. Keep your ears open, and you'll hear him make other common mistakes as well.

Them is plural, yes. But "them" isn't the subject here. The subject is "one", which is 3rd person singular.

But 'them' denotes plural. Now think of a grand scheme. None of it works???? |
