Yes, Eraserhead is pretty disturbing. Lynch is genius, all of his works and short stories are masterpieces for me! Got to see Rabbit, though.

SPOILERHe's actually dead. He may or may not have been given crazy drugs by the Government but the whole movie is a hallucination he has before dying. He's dead the whole time.
