You slightly incorrect, as well. Eva was the original bassist for The Mars Volta, and it was when her father passed away (I believe,) that she left the band. That's when they had the revolving door of bass players until they found Juan.

This is so incredibly amazing! Even better than on the record. WTH, I can't even bear. Too fucking great.

Actually the Coldplay "shout out" is not sarcastic at all. If you recall, Coldplay were not treated with the same disdain back then. The two bands became friendly at the Big Day Out Festival in Sydney. There were actually talks in 2001 of a Jim Ward/Guy Berryman (Coldplay bass player) alt-country project that never really got off the ground. Ward's alt-country prowess can currently be seen in the band Sleepercar. Really good stuff.

I believe you are wrong.Eva Gardner was just on tour with TMV when they relase first album, because they didnt have a perminent mamber before Juan joined TMV. The members in De Facto were: Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Omar Rodríguez-López, Jeremy Michael Ward, Isaiah "Ikey" Owens.

not really...cedric and omar started de facto while they where in at the drive-in,and de facto didnt really "break up" eva gardner(bassist) left and they changed the name to the mars volta...
