Oil has risen to yet another record high - just shy of $121 dollars a barrel. One knock on effect is that some Arab countries are removing state subsidies, which are costing billions of dollars a year.Jordan removed fuel subsidies in February and, since then, oil prices have shot up by 82 per cent.Syria too is cutting subsidies, trying to soften the blow with a 25% hike in wages. And now Egypt has announced a 40 to 50 percent hike in fuel prices - just two days after saying wages would go up by a third. For a Q&A on rising oil prices: http://english.aljazeera.net/N...

Saudi Arabia is currently working on building gas and diesel refineries. Do you guys even understand what this means? Soon there will be no more crude oil from them and they will only sell us gas and diesel, if everyone thinks fuel prices are high now, wait until this starts. They will suck us dry. The environmentalist love these fuel prices, they should stick to their words and quit driving gas operated cars, hypocrites. You will all be happy when Iraq starts being drilled for oil.

From a long term perspective, Ive been informed that the Oil producing economies around the globe including the towel heads, as a few rednecks have referred to them as, do not see it as actually a positive for them. Why you ask Mr and Mrs Redneck? Well the reason is they would much rather the cheaper oil price, so the rest of the world would invest in an alternative viable fuel source. With cheap oil means we wont advance in other sources of fuel for our cars! Does your brain hurt Mr Redneck?

put it this way, there is enough oil to last for centuries, it's just in places that cannot be reached. Politicians could ban petrol cars now if they really wanted to save the planet, but that won't happen as too many jobs and enonomies would be at risk. Even if the world went electric, we would be doing just as much damage to the planet either way. More electric means more burning of oils in powerstations.

ahh i agree...but see what will happen is, The us will wait for the middle east to run out of oil VERY SOON. within in the next 30 years, so they can tap the oil in alaska and the american gvt can sell each barrel for 300-400$/barrel.. or even more... thats my theory..

You are such a dumb motherfucker. If it wasnt for you're dumb SUV loving redneck ass, we wouldnt be paying 4 bucks a gallon. You stupid fucking redneck, didnt you know that it is now possible to run a car simply on water. The only reason, I and you dont own one is the greed that resides in washington. Get a grip on yourself and stop making us look like idiots.

Those effin towel heads have done this before and it backfired in their faces. If you are a liberal you have no reason to gripe because if it wasnt for the tree hugging branch of your party we would be able to drill and produce our own w/out being so dependant on these sand fleas.

The day will come when the Saudis will plea to America to purchase more oil. Our president will inform them that combustible fuel is no longer needed due to alternative energy. I'm guessing around.....year 2050?
