Heh.. interesting to hear that perspective.I'm studying in that department. Although, of course, it's just a sociology department now..Stuart Hall is one of my favourite theorists, but I've never really been convinced that Cultural Studies is a genuine discipline, distinct from social and political theory.

my favourite theorist ever ! I love you Stuart Hall! this is just a tip of the iceberg of his work ...I am sad that the the magestic CCCS is closed by the narrow minded conservatives ! but the bullet is already shot and cultural studies is thriving everywhere thanks to this MAN and to others who worked with him in CCCS ( perry anderson, richard johnson , Angela Maccrobie et al !!!!!! I really enjoyed the images he used to depict his definiton of representation. He makes you stop and think about the real meaning behind the adds in magazines we read.
