Awesome story, bobvar. I just heard Jimmy Smith a few months ago, and like you, I don't think I'll ever be able to forget how smooth he is.

He's so cool and smooth. Does anyone know where I can find this on a CD?

I have a few best of albums and now I'm starting to pick up his discography. He is so smooth . My uncle listened to him on the way to work and I remember the smooth organ sounds at 4 years old. Now i'm 45 and i still remember those chords.

Thanks for posting this legendary act. Was that recorded in LA? or Burbank?Look how people used to dress.

I used to talk to Jimmy and his wife Lola on the phone... I had a chance to talk with him in the mid 90's at the Metropolis(Jazz club in nyc). I also saw him at the 5 spot(also in nyc) he called me his nephew and told the bartender to give me a drink on him(i don't drink though)my experience with Jimmy was 1 that i'll never 4get. He was taking a break and still took me to his organ and showed me some chords...I miss him dearly...He left a mark on me those nights...

Longtime drummer Donald Bailey really lays down a nice groove for Jimmy.
