No... Americans did it first. People forget that it was NASA who started thrust vectoring in the late 40's and 50's on rockets and it was later applied to a Nasa tech demonstrator long before the Russians.

Isn't AoA (Or High Alpha) also used in combat?as a method of quickly slowing a plane, where airbrakes are not sufficient, or flying this slow without stsalling the engine?Ofcourse, you explenation is just as plausible ;-)

Actually I think it was the russians who first used them in public displays. a lot of those kind of maneuvers seem to derived from flight testing maneuvers (such as finding out when and what area a plane stalls at, and how to control it and etc...)

Those menouvers considered ordinary nowadays.Russian plane did more than that long before f-22.Just for information. |
