You are soooo right. I agree totally.

Did you stop reading after the first line of my comments?? Give me a break! I've been picking in and out of bands for 40 years, spent half my life chasing dreams in Nashville, New York, and L.A.! Read the whole thing. The comments are just truth but very complimentary. Hell, everybody that plays the guitar is not a legendary musician or a great picker. Some are song stylest and writers that use words and phrases to move people. I stand by my comments, just read the whole thing next time!

Nanci's instrument is her voice. Apparently coleyman's instrument is only critical comments :(

I also bought some of her Albums after hearing this song in Austin, TX where she performed it.

A 20-year old performance, and it still seems like just yesterday. I'd rather hear a two-decade old song than most anything being done today. Haven't we all had about enough of grunge, ennui, and angst?

Why would you want to gereralize the term "musician"? You imply that anyone who writes music or lyrics, styles songs, or finds chords or progressions is a musician.. Not true. I know lots of songwriters and song stylest that play instruments with great expertise that don't consider themselves "musicians". Some of the greatest writers and singers have trouble playing anything at all but that doesn't make them any less a professional. Not everyone who plays music is a "musician".

How ironic that you would make that ridiculous statement on a song that uses some of the most innovative uses and voicings of stardard chords to achieve such a haunting, beautiful sound. Even without that, listen to her voice and that's a musician.

I play the guitar and tried to write song for a living about 25 years ago. Spent a lot of time in Nashville and had almost no success. Worked for a few publishing companies for about 5 years or so, but got hungry and had to go get a real job. I'm an old man now and I just sit around the breakfast table and play and sing the old songs. I have spent some time in Germany also. Berghausen, to be specific. A little town about 50 miles north of Saltzberg. Worked for a company called Wacker GB.

Uhm - ok! Now I do understand you (sorry, but my english is not so good - I speak german, because I`m a lady from Austria) ;-))Are you a musician? I mean - do you plya some instruments or maybe are you singing?

Whoa, big fella (or lady)! I was not being critical of her talent. I was just saying that her music would be very non-descript without the lyrics that she writes and the style that she projects. At that, she has only a few equals but compared to some "musicians" she is on the outside looking in. She would probably tell you that herself. I don't even think she would call herself a "musician". |
