Derek is not a person in the band. But there were many stories as to how "derek" was created. go look it up.

Derek was the leader of the band. It was a completely different person. If you take a look at 'Layla and other assorted Love songs' it says this: Derek and the Dominoes (guitar: Eric Clapton).

at the time that derek and the dominos was formed eric wanted to remain annonimous (yea its probably spelled wrong) so he went by the nickname derek. |
