On May 25, 2007 Andrew Card faced hundreds of boos and catcalls as he was given an honorary degree during the graduate school commencement at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Before the commencement, about 200 protesters staged a rally and press conference outside the Mullins Center on the UMass campus. Hundreds more students and faculty who opposed the honorary degree would later protest inside the hall.Card, former Bush Administration Chief of Staff and chief salesman for the invasion of Iraq as head of the White House Iraq Group, faced signs calling him a war criminal. People are now calling on UMass to rescind the honorary degree. The protests followed weeks of growing opposition. 400 protested on May 15 (see the rally and march on YouTube at TraprockPeaceTV) and on May 22 protesters marched from the campus to the Amherst common. After the commencement, activists gathered at the Jones Library for a celebration and speakout. Video of both the pre-commencement rally and post-commencement speakout are coming to TraprockPeaceTV.Video recorded and edited by Charles Jenks; © 2007 Traprock Peace Center. Traprock was one of many community groups that supported the tremendous efforts by the UMass community of students, faculty and staff, and UMass organizations.

More Iraquis died in the first of U.S. occupation than died in the whole time Saddam ruled. Iraq wasn't just Al Queda free before the invasion, but it kept a much needed balance of secularism vs theocracy in the Middle East. Now the region is flooded with anti-American groups like never before. And, when we finally pull our forces out of Iraq the Shiite majority is going to slaughter the entire Tsunni population and stand side by side with Iran in terms of Islam extremism.

Way to correct someone's spelling of a word in Arabic, where there are inevitably multiple transliterations. Look that up. Also, learn a foreign language. Please.

Dumbest remark ever; UN is ` most useless political organization on earth`. You abviously dont no anything about the UN. Because of the UN all city`s in the US are still standing!!! Yes.. The UN is not the one who solves problems. The UN is the means to; its the classroom where adults (world leaders) come together...They solved so many problems!! We would have had a 3d worldwar without the UN!! (1962!!) Example; Start watching at 3.50 ; watch?v=ZCQ-WJXP9qA&feature=related

Oh I forgot to add, President Bush declared war on terror and it was passed and approved by Congress. Iraq is another front on that war and stop the "it's illegal and immoral" bullsh*t. Do some homework and form your own opinion. Stop listening to the left wing bias machine.

Saddam did not bother to obey 17 resolutions that were passed, but what difference did that make. The UN is one of the most corrupt, useless political organizations on the Earth. They have little credence in eyes of many in this country and of many in Europe. If people like you had things their way, we would be bowing 5 times a day to Mecca as well as being broke. Our country has a right to defend itself and democracy from tyranny anywhere in the world with or without the Jackass UN.

Except that it's not the US but the UN Security Council that decides whether or not to go to war because of a UN Security Council resolution.

It's Al Qaeda, not Al Quieda. And apparently you didn't mind the countless told that have died because of Saddam. And whether Al Qaeda was there beforehand at this point is immaterial because they are there now. It is not a fight I want but it is a fight this country has to face, whether we like it or not. Unbelieveable that you would compare a White House Chief of Staff to Hitler. Learn to spell, think before you speak, or, in your case just stay quiet so people can only guess your ignorance.

Simple, Congressional Joint Resolution 114 and UN Security Council resolutions, such as Resolution 1441 and Resolution 678. Also look up the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 passed by Bill Clinton. Not all wars or show of force must be first declared by congress.
