and to be clear, wanting to "save the planet" is NOT the same as caring about the earth; It's caring about YOURSELF. Which he made very clear: we are only "concerned about our habitat" and "fear being inconvenienced". If we cared about other species as much as ourselves, we would not slaughter, hunt, etc, other animals.

Of course Carlin cared about the planet, which is why he referred to us humans as the aggressors. Carlin loved nature and was very upset that we are destroying it. But, he also knew that we are really not a threat to the Earth, so petty ideals like "saving species" is just laughable.

This is a routine where he actually lets his innermost feelings out. Watch "Life is Worth Losing" if you haven't already. At heart, he was a pessimist, but yes there were times when he was drawn towards noble goals. But not really. The big electron; We as humans cannot possibly fully understand our condition, so there is no need to worry about such things as saving the planet. We're only here for a little while. The big electron doesn't judge you for your crimes or your deeds. :-)

he's more a philosopher than a comedian. he has a way of speaking his mind and being funny at the same time. in this routine, he is genuinely angry. it is very easy to tell when carlin is being sarcastic. this is not one of those times.

You IGNORANT RETARDS don't get it. If you ever heard Carlin speak on the subject, you would know that he HATED how we mistreat the Earth. He would speak of the Hopi Indians, over development, and how we're fucking up the planet. Then, he makes a JOKE about environmentalists and you retards take him seriously. That's why I wish he had never done this bit, because Carlin was himself an environmentalist! He hated how we mistreat this planet. I'm sure Carlin would have hated FANS like you.
DeathsHood (July 25, 2008 at 10:36 pm)
actually, we're doing both...
Themanwithavan (July 25, 2008 at 10:21 pm)
or, you know, he's just doing a different take on "saving the planet" for the shits and giggles because he's a fucking comedian.

i agree

He's right though, we're not destroying the planet, we're destroying ourselves.
