Chic became world famous as a Funk/Dance group, but they originally started as a Rock Band. They would send demo tapes to record companies, the companies would love their demos but they couldn't get a record deal because they were a Black Rock group. They got fed up and decided to do funk/dance music instead. The rest is music history.
