OH MY GOD! this is appauling! teh risks of urinary tract infection in a patient than does not aseptically do this procedure are horrendous - and re-using it! in the UK - we would NEVER EVER do this. it would be safer to leave a long term catheter in there, and th patient release the flow of urine whenever they feel their bladder if full. this is really really bad!
