Actually, like many New Order songs, the title didn't have anything to do what the song was about.

I was told that Blue Monday was the Monday before Lent. Sort of a pre-lent indulgence. Really though, it's up to the observer to interpret.

because if I remember correctly if was the day that the germans or brits(one of the two sunk a freighter). thugh don't quoate me on that. i've also heared it was the day that german u-boats had the most kills or something.you know new order always had feelings or ian and his pro german views. but fuck who knows. i think it's best left to interpretation. let people believe what they want.

But Labor Day's NOT a military holiday, it's for people working in the labor division - blue collar workers. So another theory goes disproven, but don't feel disappointed.

maybe because of labor day falls on a monday...and because the u.s government made it possible to become a holiday in all 50 states. therefore explains the military comes in too. just a thought.

Okay. But again, a "blue monday" is a day off or holiday, so how does WW2 seem vacation-like? It was a war. I wasn't "questioning" where the military footage came from, I was wondering why New Order USED it in the MV since it doesn't follow the concept of a blue monday. |
