i'm partial to elton john but this is a good overall philosophy. i have a feeling that when asked, stevie/elton/billy/ben will all say that the other three are "way better" piano players/singers etc.

All great and limited in own way: Billy Joel writes all his words&music, but says Elton is better piano player (who writes music but not words), & Elton says Stevie W (who wrote most of his own songs) kicks HIS ass on piano; Ben F imho lags behind the above on those counts, but beats them all in postmodern sense of humor & subtle wit. Vocals: they all have pros/cons, matter of taste. Who wins in the end?...It's all just subjective, and what mood you're in on any particular day.
