I've never liked Danelectro's at all, they're standard '62 or whatever it is, sounds about as good as a Squier.

Cheap and chearful, but fun. Masonite translates in Britain to "hardboard", the 3mm composite fiber-board used for drawer bases and the backs of picture frames(!). Nevertheless dano's have graced may major albums including those of Zep. BTW Jimbo, I'm sure anyone knows they can detune however much they want - But whether they will clash with a song's bass part is another issue...

If you have a baritone guitar that costs half what a Danelectro costs, you have an electric turd. Danos are the cheapest of the cheap, poorly constructed, using the most bargain basement componants known to man. The ONLY baritone out there worth a darn is a Jerry Jones.
