Gorgeous piece of music! Blues origin is africa when it was sung only by mouth, thats humble blues that gets deep into your bone. He is very talented to say the least! Bravo

I can't see it but it sounds like the African lute 'ngoni' or 'xalam', which also has other local names. Some ethnomusicologists believe the banjo evolved from that instrument. Others attribute the origins to, for example, another lute called 'akonting' that ressembles the banjo much more than the ngoni does.

I'm more attached to his father's original version, but this is also excellent. The guitar tuning/playing sounds pretty much like Ali's tuning/playing on the solo version of 'Diaraby'. Great to see Vieux is continuing the legacy in his own way and right. Thanks to the uploader!
