During WWII, the Japanese tricked the Filipinos by pretending to be friends under the umbrella of the "Asia is for Asians" campaign. The Japanese tried to explain that it was a good thing to have the Americans out and that the Japanese government would help their Asian brothers. This was a trick to gain their confidence. Actually, when the Japanese arrived, many Filipinos were happy because they fell into the believing the propoganda. Later, the Japanese showed their true colors.
