on the contrary...the average skeptical blogger requires proof beyond reasonable doubt and as long as govts continue to invest money in oil andcar companies continue production of petrol driven cars there is reasonable doubt....Attack govts and car companies to see a change...

I think that Monbiot has got so much of th problem spot on, however what he does not seem to understand, and i am open to being persuaded that im wrong on this, is the fundamental nature of the way the human species relies on denial to operate from day to day. Denial is the No. 1 enemy we have to fight here, and denial is human nature. I suggest, as did plato, that humans live in a world of denial as a result of humanities inability to live with its own self awareness.

Scientists do not deny that global warming exists, and it is as serious as Monbiot says.The science of global warming is not in doubt. The question is, why do people continue to live high-carbon lifestyles, and bury their heads in the sand?

Almost NO scientists are skeptical of this--and the few that are have been (for the most part) hired by the petrochemical indistry to cast doubt in the public mind.

Check the scientific institutions. There is a stron scientific consensus about man-made global warming. DON'T DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! There is just no way you as an average skeptical blogger are more qualified to comment the finer science of Global warming and immensely complex systems are best left to professional institutions. And they all agree. We're causing global warming and we should stop spewing out CO2! Why do you think you're smarter than the scientific establishment of the planet?

That is bullshit though.. Scientists have been aware of the carbondioxid emissions impact on the greenhouse effect since the 70's. And it's an unimaginable problem, there are no desceprencies among serious scientists concerning this issue. Seriously.
