If pictures are worth 1000 words. Then music is worth infinity...

If you're speaking of "Ritt der Walkure" by Wagner, yes. And Elmer pronoumces it "wabbit" as you well know. Now, please let us not desecrate this brilliant performance of a magnificent overture any more.

Mhm, yes, you're right. Completely overlooked that aspect of it. It is Seiji Ozawa after all; one person you could depend onto extract the best he can from any ensemble whatever the venue is. -sigh- I wish I do manage to stumble upon a good recording of this particular performance. It 'looks' brilliant.

Dude, you're listening to this over youtube. The horrible audio compression they use alone will kill any hope of subtlety, even if the original recording was technically excellent.I haven't had the pleasure of listening to this particular recording through a quality medium, but I very much doubt the choice of venue impacted the performance greatly :)

It's not ironic! It's just coincidental! The use of words expressing something other than theirliteral intention. Now that IS irony!(Bender FTW -_-)

Its irony that the 1812 overture is often associated with independence day in america and the french helped us to gain our independence.

Thank you. I remember Fiedler. He was a brilliant conductor. 1976 was the "Bicentennial," which was a good time to get it started as the audiences were huge that year. |
