Most of modern day Turkey was Christian up until 1453. Islam=violence=intolerance.

Islam was spread through the sword. Egypt, Syria, the Levant, northern Africa, Turkey were Christian lands for centuries before the muslim invasion. Islam only spread through violence and jihad.

I agree completely. Remember, all they use Islam for is to get more recruits. They take the whole religion out of context, and use it for their advantage.

As long as the USA does not react violently, they eventually lose the support of the people of lands on which they function. One of the goals of these groups, as I believe, is to force USA to react violently. So they will have some sort of justification to carry on their activities. By the way, I have great respect for Christianity and Judaism. And I also think that America is great nation.

Seriousdudes, I would like to make a comment regarding what you said. I believe, it would equally be over-simplification of history if we think that these groups that are so called "terrorists" are fighting for a religious reason. I strongly believe that their motive is a political one. They use the name of Islam to gain popular support.
Seriousdudes (July 17, 2008 at 8:11 am)
That is an unfair and incorrect over-simplification of history. I heard Edward Said say that rubbish before and it is simply wrong. There were no Christian nations in the 20th centuries. These conflicts were nationalistic and imperialistic in nature, and had nothing to do with Christianity. The Germans and the British were both Protestant, so how is religion connected to that conflict? Christians were victims of secular Nazism and athiest Communism, and they were killed in the millions.

Please tell me who started WWI, and WWII. They were Christians. I am not against Christianity. I am a Muslim, and I love diversity, but Please know you truth. Please do not associate Islam with violence
